A case of total knee replacement in a patient with osteoarthritis of knee joint with malunited distal femur fracture with stiffness

Introduction: Distal Femoral fracture may lead to the development of post-traumatic arthrosis knee joint because direct intraarticular injury. Malunion distal femur fracture, intra-articular osseous defects, limb malalignment and compromised surrounding soft tissues in turn affect outcome total arthroplasty (TKA) makes it a technically demanding surgery. Here we report our experience regarding this complex arthroplasty.Case presentation: We case 72 year old male patient who presented with progressive left pain limited range motion joint. Patient had history trauma 3 years back which is treated conservatively. Preoperative radiograph indicates severe osteoarthritis tibiofemoral patellofemoral multiple osteophytes malunited for he was primary replacement, showed good clinical functional at end 6 months.Conclusion: Total challenging can require skills, preoperative planning, templating tissue balancing. In patients femur, where optimal implant alignment are achieved, results much more promising compete seen routine replacement.
